Jesse Owens’ family was poor. Jesse was a happy child because he didn’t know that his family was poor. His parents had to provide for him and his nine siblings. Jesse got ill often because he was a sickly child and when he was ill his parents couldn’t afford medical care. Since his family were mainly sharecroppers they would work under their landowner and give their payments. With the remaining crop they would sell or trade it to get things such as clothes medical attention or food. Jesse’s life was a very hard one because he was raised in a black family. The fact that he was the tenth sibling was also a factor in their need of money. Jesse’s childhood wasn’t only tough because his family was poor. Jesse had to run everywhere he went. He ran in junior high, high school, and college. He then ran professionally and shattered records. His form was great and his long jump was amazing. Jesse was one of the best runners in history and will be remembered for a long time. He did both races and field events. While he may be known as a great runner there’s also other things to take note of. One of them is that Jesse was black so he was still being discriminated by others. Another is that he tied a world record while he was only in high school and then broke more records when he was older. He tied the 100 meter dash record twice during his track career. As a child Jesse had close to nothing but he raised up and gained fame. He was unrelenting, although he was discriminated he didn’t let it bother him and kept on running. Jesse Owens will be remembered as a great track-and-field athlete no matter what. There is one other major thing that Jesse did that not only had to do with track but also racism. He defied Hitler in the 1936 olympic games. While it was held to support Aryan supremacy by Hitler it did not go how he wanted it to. Hitler was denied the feeling of success for his remark. Trying to prove Aryan supremacy did not end well when Jesse took home 4 gold medals. He was one of few to beat Germany’s olympic
