Jerry Siegals: A True Hero

Imagine a man six feet three inches tall, weighing aproximately 225 pounds, and exceedingly charming. His hair is jet black with a natural curl in the front, complimenting his ocean blue eyes. He has a muscular bodybuilder’s physique with a “hero’s jaw” that gives him a striking appearance. His appearal consists of bright blue long johns, red trunks and boots, a red cape and a yellow belt. On his eye- catching costume, the famous “S” logo is stitched on his chest. Picture this man whom possesses powers such as superhuman strength and is invulnerable. He has the power to fly, the ability to see through walls with x-ray vision, he has heat vision that allows him to shoot red-hot beams out of his eye, and his only weakness is kryptonite. He made his first appearance in comic books and eventually made an appearance in multiple movies. This hero, in fact, is “The Man of Steel.” This perfect creation, Superman, has been an iconic figure for decades (1938-2016) (“Vaux”). …show more content…
He was born Kal-El, the only survivor of a distant planet called Krypton. His father sent him to Earth in a rocket ship when he discovered their whole planet would soon be destroyed. Kal-El landed in the United States and was raised a normal boy under the name Clark Kent. As a teenager he discovered his powers and became dedicated to “truth, justice, and the American way.” As Clark Kent, he took a job as a reporter for the “Daily Planet”, a newspaper in th fictitious city of Metropolis, and worked undercover to save the world (“Vaux”). Superman defines the true meaning of hero: “a person who, in the the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal” (“The Definition of a Hero”).
