Jerry Heller's Relationship With Ice Dre Essay

Improved Essays
Jerry Heller was an American businessman whose prime years were in the late 80’s with the arrival of a new rap group that called themselves N.W.A. With Ice Cube as their most vital lyricist and Eazy-E spiting the bars Dr.Dre on the beat N.W.A was the most controversial rap group to hit the streets. Jerry Heller founded Eazy-E and they became business partners and what he would quote “best friends”. Ice Cube and Dr.Dre would eventually accuse Jerry of breaking up N.W.A with the way he managed them. In the book Ruthless: a memoir, Jerry talks about his relationship with Eric Wright a.k.a Eazy-E. He also speaks of some specific experiences he endured with the group as a whole. From legal issues to health issues he says it all.

As most of you who have seen the movie “Straight Outta Compton” or simply done your research may know, Ice Cube and Dr.Dre were not fairly compensated as compared to Eazy-E who was first to be founded by Jerry. This led them to publicly bash and ruin Jerry Heller's’ name. Some of the younger generation of rap new him as the “white devil” as portrayed by the way Dr.Dre and Ice Cube spoke of him in some of their songs after straying away from the group. In their eyes Jerry was nothing but a money hungry white man who was going to legally rob the less educated black rap stars of modern society.

One thing he did note however was the fact that some of the things he was portrayed as being are untrue. Also he claimed that Eazy-E was a good friend of his and in writing a memoir, he dedicated it to Eazy-E who died from aids shortly after the splitting of the group. I can see where people's critiques of Jerry comes in but, there are two sides to a story and we would all be a bunch of fools if we we believed everything we

The first line is referring to how Jay Z (whom West affectionately refers to as his brother) went from little brother of Biggie Smalls (Whom was a mentor in Jay Z’s early career) to a big brother (as being the mentor of West). In lines 2-4, West is saying how he respects Jay Z while stating if you respect people you should tell them rather than wait until they are no longer here. In 5-6, West is showing more respect such as idolizing Jay Z much in the same way a younger brother wants to be like his big brother. In the final two lines, West states how there will never be someone like…

Rapping at the age of twelve, Cole’s love and passion for creating music has spurred him to become the harbinger of rap music in today’s society.
