Salinger was born the youngest of three children in a jewish family. Salinger didn’t know of his mother’s religion until age 14. Even though Salinger had a great mind and a very smart man he never used it to his full advantage. He flucked McBurney School and his parents decided to send him to Valley Forge Military Academy. He graduated and came back to New York to attend New York University. His father wanted to send him to Europe to learn about business and different languages. With a handful of cash flew out to Europe for five months in Vienna. After he finished with that he came back home to attempt another chance at college. Salinger went to Columbia University where
