“You can’t just take what’s given to you in life. You have to earn some things” (“Sports Stars”). This quote was said by Jerome Bettis explaining how he is dedicated to win and achieve his goals in life. This quote strongly emphasizes how he wants to do more than all of the other ordinary football players. Jerome Bettis was a star running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1996 to 2005 and he is best known for his strong and powerful yet speedy running style. Jerome Bettis could possibly be the most talented and versatile power-running back ever to play in the NFL due to his career accomplishments, amazing stats, and numerous records. These awards and his capabilities had colleges very interested and he got a scholarship to Notre Dame. The coaches actually wanted Bettis to play linebacker but had him at fullback because that’s what he wanted. Notre Dame saw how good Bettis really was at the fullback position so they tried him at running back and he did very well. It is very tough to get a scholarship like he did to a major college team so that was an accomplishment itself. Now fast forward to his National Football League career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 1996 and 1997 he got awarded team MVP both years because his teammates voted for him and was also awarded rookie of the year because of his outstanding rushing yards. Among all of his accomplishments as a running back, two stand out the most and they are every football players’ dream to accomplish.
