On November 8th, 2015 I viewed a recorded pop music performance of Selena Quintanilla titled “Selena Live”. The performance originally took place on the evening of February 26, 1995, at the Astrodome Stadium in Houston, Texas. The legendary Tejano music star, Selena Quintanilla, became one of the most famous Latin music artists around the world. She was referred to as the “Queen of Tejano”. Tejano music, also known as Tex-Mex is a popular music genre that blends European, Mexican, and U.S. musical influences (Tejano).…

I think that the author R.J. Palacio chose the song Beautiful Things for the Miranda section because Miranda alway say that Auggie is beautiful and is like a brother to her. I think that because on page 165 it says “ I've known Auggie since I was six years old. I've watched him grow up. I've played with him. I've watched all six episodes of Star Wars for his sake, so I could talk to him about the aliens and bounty hunters and all that.…

If there was such a genre as "slacker cyberpunk," Whiskey Tango Foxtrot would firmly fit inside it. You might also find it on the "rehab science fiction" or "literary conspiracy drama" shelves at B&N. Repeated mentions of Edward Snowden on the back cover might lead a harried stockperson to shelve it in the "post-privacy politics" section. This is both the charm and the downfall of this novel; it's neither fish nor fowl, neither literary nor genre, neither serious nor sendup. For all this, it's not hard to sum up the concept: three youngish Americans of various levels of slackerhood run afoul of a Secret Global Conspiracy(TM) to privatize all of the world's data and crash the public Internet so the SGC can sell to the cat video-starved masses…

My first reaction towards “Even in Paradise” by Elizabeth Nunez is astonished. I was intrigued by the setting of the book and how the author Elizabeth Nunez uses Trinidadian culture. What i enjoyed about the book is that in and out of each chapter you can observe that the characters get wiser as they are reiterated throughout each chapter. In addition, the book has a very meaningful tone on young readers just like us as they introduce us to adolescents in the book and give them adult mindsets. For example, in the beginning of the book the author states “At sixteen I considered myself already a man,” (Nunez 11).…

Confinement on a Psychological Level Introduction: In "Room" by Emma Donoghue, Ma and Jack are affected greatly by their confinement on a psychological level, Jack more so than Ma. Jack has lived his entire life in confinement, he has no sense of the real world, and he has been psychologically damaged because of it. Ma previous to her capture was a innocent teen of 17 years, she has isolated from the world, and she will never be the same. Although Jack and Ma 's confinement has psychological effects on both of them, it is my opinion that Jack has been effected on a higher level than Ma.…

In Damien Chazelle’s movie La La Land, Mia and Sebastian surrender themselves to following their dreams, which shocks the audience’s predictable assumptions. This unexpected movie raises the emotions of a relatable ending, rather than a foreshadowing conclusion that only appeals to the eyes of the viewers. However, this theatrical cinema exemplifies strive and success toward passions that people consider unreachable. The movie purveys repetitive music and intriguing themes that focus on the remembrance of love and attainable dreams.…
