Jennie Finch Research Paper

Jennie Finch is known as an all American softball player. She was born in La Mirada, California on September 3, 1980. Since she had two older brothers that both played baseball, when she turned 5 years old she joined her first little league team just like her brothers had done. The whole household loved baseball. Since they were close to Los Angeles they were all Dodger fans. As Jennie grew older she switched over to girls softball. This is where she started pitching at 8 years old and that is how her love for softball all got started. When she was 9 years old she was on a 10 and under traveling all-star team that played throughout Southern California. When Jennie turned 12 she went on a team called California Cruisers, which she led to the American Softball Association or, A.S.A, national title in Tennessee. Then when she was on the CAL Cruisers 14 and under team she then again won a A.S.A championship. By the time she got to high school she was one of the top pitchers in all of California. Jennie went to La Mirada High School in Southern California. As a freshman she tried out for the high school softball team and made the varsity team. In high school during her off season from softball, she played basketball and volleyball. When she graduated high school she moved to Arizona to attend college and play on the Arizona Wildcats softball team. At first she did not pitch, she would play 1st base or short stop. Then at the start of her sophomore year she basically took over the pitching duty for the Arizona Wildcats. In 2001, Jennie’s junior year, the Arizona Wildcats won the Women’s College World Series. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2002 and went on to play softball for 8 more
