She would also say that “as long as you put effort into your work, then everything will be alright.” I believed her, since she’s older than me and she’s my mother. A mother would always wish for the best for their child. I believed that learning would lead you to more and better opportunities in the future. I believed that you would be able to accomplish your goal also long as you try your best and work hard for that goal. My mom desired the best for us. She wanted us to have a better future.

I still remember that I got “Joelianne” mixed up with “jellyfish” so I ended calling her “jellyfish” a couple of times, before I learned her name wasn’t “jellyfish”. In 3rd grade I had taken and interest in space. I was curious about the world that we live in. I was curious about the out solar system. So of course I would check out books at the library, so that I was able to quench my curiosity. But that didn’t really help though. As a child, anything related to the English subject wasn’t my favorite. I hated poetry, I wasn’t an avid reader, and my skills in writing weren’t all that great because of how much I disliked it. Where I lacked in English, however, is where I excelled in Science and Math. However, as the years have passed by, my tastes towards school subjects have altered significantly. I began reading more often, writing became a new pastime, and Science slowly deteriorated into one of my worst subjects.…

Looking into a mirror, I don’t seem normal. My features come off as odd and stand out to me: like my lightly colored skin, high cheekbones, slight pixie nose, small lips, slightly crooked teeth, small eyes, brown hair, and brown eyes. All of these features are perceived to me as puzzle pieces that someone will eventually put together to form a masterpiece. While standing in my small, lilac colored bedroom, I glanced to the left towards my closet as I remembered my mother’s upcoming birthday, and I needed to complete her gift. I began looking through printed photos to find one that would fit perfectly in a frame saying "happiness".…
