Jeffry can’t deal with this anymore. He is so frustrated; “Why can’t you accept the fact that I don’t like how I look!” says Jeffery.
Then Jeffry looks up a nearby tree and notices the amazing wildlife that live up there. “I just want to be like everyone else, I always get made fun of and I’m sick of it! No one understands me. There is no one else like me and I always feel left out!” says Jeffry.
“Wow, if you really want to be like everyone else and be in the trees, then I’ll give it to you.
I just wanted you to be special and one of a kind, then here, here I’ll make you as tall as a tree!” yelled Artemis. Jeffry started growing

Even though I do not remember many things from my childhood, I remember the moment when I met Melvin Miller very clearly. I was only five, and when I walked up to him for the first time I had no clue he would change my life forever. My first moment with Melvin was watching him lay tile. I watched as he very eloquently placed each piece of porcelain and grout on the floor in a way that I had never seen before. I was immediately captivated.…

I’ve usually learned in hard way because frankly, I love to challenge myself to expand my personal capacity. Although I had already talked to one of my classmates about having interview with her as a Caucasian woman, I decided to do it with my cousin’s friend, Jacob, who I met in my place for the first time during Thanksgiving holidays. Interviewing Jacob about his interactions with other cultures has made me realize that I have a lot to learn about the meaning of the privilege and holding it. Jacob was a 24-year-old Caucasian, who lived in Missouri his entire life. Though he was visiting California for the second time in his life, he was in a Persian house for the first time.…

I’ve been listening to a lot of Jon & Deek in the morning, and in the mid-afternoon, and early evening. Those two (or one?) have me flipping through channels, seeing if I can remember what station NPR or The Keg is on. All I could remember about a station was “the Eagle is classic rock,” and I spent many minutes at red lights flipping through the country music stations trying to be reunited with my old customary station, only to find myself listening to Will Ferrell screech “SAANNTTAA!” on 94.9’s Christmas ad. Nothing was more brutal, and yet familiar than this. There’s no aux cord in my 2002 Honda, and it spits out cd’s when I put them in, and I can’t make myself realize that I’m not motivated enough to actually listen to NPR on a morning drive, so I resist looking up the tune-in number.…

It’s interesting to consider what this film would be like without the flashback. Certainly, the story could be told linearly, with Ann only showing up halfway through the movie (introduced, perhaps, through some sort of meet-cute at Marny’s Café). In this movie, Jeff would start out as a detective, get in too deep, flee to Bridgeport, meet Ann, eventually get dragged back, and die. It *could* work (the middle section would be the most challenging to get right — how do you set up Jeff’s new life and love without making it feel rushed, but also without letting the story drag?). However, the result would be a very different movie and not for the better.…
