Jeffrey Dahmer's Behavior Theory

Jeffrey Dahmer was from Wisconsin. As a child, he was very happy and energetic. His parents were loving parents. They just wanted the best for him, just like any parents would want for their children. His father was a hard-working lab technician and his mother had a scrapbook about her son that had everything about his early child life. He had a younger brother, but he was not close to him. His parents got divorced when he was fourteen, which appears to be the catalyst of all his actions. After his childhood surgery, he began to display troubling behavior. He did not get his behavior from his parents, he gained it from his experiences. He felt alone so getting with males made him happy. He also fits in the Psychoanalytic theory because he consists of irrational thoughts and feelings of which he was not aware of. This lead to him committing deviant acts such as killing African Americans to get pleasure. His experience of his parents’ divorce led to part of his deviant behavior. His overall instincts and irrational drives led to his pleasure of killing. I think it is crazy how the Columbine killers planned that shooting for a long time. They even made their own bombs that didn’t go off at the time of the shooting. They wanted to seek revenge against the bullies that made their school years miserable. The theory that fits this is the labeling theory. The two killers became a deviant after being bullied. Labeling theory makes one a deviant as a result of others forcing that identify upon them. For example, they killed themselves after the shooting because they realized how much damaged they had done. They recast everything after the event took
