Jeffrey Dahmer was a convicted serial killer and sex offender; he murdered 17 males between 1978 and 1991. He was killed by a fellow prison inmate in 1994. He committed his first murder in 1978, and was arrested multiple times before claiming his second victim, in 1987. Supposedly, it seems that the breakdown of his parents' marriage and their acrimonious divorce a few years later may have been the catalyst for turning these thoughts into actions. Jeffrey's killing spree lasted for more than 13 years. During that time he sought out mostly African-American men at gay bars, malls and bus stops, lured them home with promises of money or sex, and gave them alcohol laced with drugs before strangling them to death. He reportedly adjusted well to prison life, although he was initially kept apart from the general population. Dahmer eventually convinced authorities to allow him to integrate more fully with other inmates. He always would wear yellow contact lenses so his eye color would match that of Emperor Palpatine from Return of the Jedi and James Venamun from The Exorcist III. All of the victims were aged in their mid-teens to mid-thirties, a majority of them being bi- or homosexual, of African or Asian descent and lived high-risk lifestyles. Most of them also had criminal records, for serious crimes such as arson, rape, battery, and sexual assault. After picking them up, usually on Friday nights so he could spend the whole weekend with them, Jeffery would bring them home, and drug the men by crushing prescription drugs and blending it with their drinks. Later, he would usually rape them, kill them by strangling them with his hands or with leather straps, and dismantle the remains in his bathtub while documenting the processes with a camera simultaneously.
