The past two years at Jefferson State Community College have flown by faster than I could have every imagined. It is sad to see this chapter end in my life but I am incredibly excited to start a new journey at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As I look back at my time at Jefferson State, I will remember how my teachers always went the extra-mile for students who put forth effort in their assignments. As I look toward my future at the U.A.B., I look forward to receiving a degree in accounting and possibly working internationally in the field of business.
Each educator that I have been able to come into contact with at Jefferson State has always shown a willingness to help their students succeed in school and life. I have been able to learn more than I every thought or imagined. Jessie Bryson has also helped me through his extensive explaining in class of accounting and ethics subjects. I have many other teachers at Jefferson State that I could also thank for creating a great learning environment for students. Jefferson State’s small class size has also

Thomas Jefferson’s Notes on the State of Virginia speaks about three general topics; social, political, and economical. Specifically I want to focus on the social aspect he writes about in Query XIV. In this section, Jefferson writes about his views on the African American society. Jefferson does not specifically states whether he supports slavery or not, but he does acknowledges that there are “real distinctions which nature has made, and other circumstances that will divide blacks and whites into parties” (162). Jefferson believed that African American were inferior to whites in terms of beauty and intelligence.…

In his Notes on the State of Virginia, Jefferson discusses religion extensively. Jefferson defines freedom as allowing citizens to express themselves without fear of government or church persecution. He firmly believed in separation of church and state. Jefferson then goes on to use his religious beliefs to show that he prefers rural life to the urban life. Jefferson writes that, “Those who labour in the earth are the chosen people of God, if ever he had a chosen people, whose breasts he has made his peculiar for substantial and genuine virtue” (165).…
