It was really interesting to see what the people had against him and how most of it was from the reports. It was also interesting to see the people on his side. This scene relates to the themes in the story because it shows how people chose him as senator and how many people didn’t like him.

One event that I think is accurate was when the reporters were interviewing Jefferson Smith and trying to get him to look weird and unfit as a senator. I think this is accurate because the reporters were trying to make him look bad since they didn’t like him. I also think this is accurate because reporters do crazy things to make their stories true.
Another event that I think is accurate is when the boys were very excited for Mr. Smith to go and become senator because I know that many of the boys thought highly of him unlike many people. The boys thought that he was hardworking and the best person to look up to. I thought it was interesting that many people couldn’t see that side of him.
Im not really sure if there are any inaccuracies because the film is so old and can be create very

The mise-en-scene of the movie is very realistic and authentic. The color palette between the white and black is really distinct to the eyes, it has a very particular stylistic difference. The acting used in the film seems to be method acting and in the particular situation method acting was a very good choice of the direction since it is a very historical film and also brought to life by some British actors. The musical choices of the movies are also very distinct and give another face to the film.…

In the current presidential race, the candidate that is most comparable to Jefferson Smith is Donald Trump, in that the two differ so greatly on policies and actions: Trump has received funding for his campaign, while Smith was hand-chosen for the job; Smith is more supportive of people of all nationalities, while Trump is seeking to deport all illegal immigrants; and Trump relies on ad hominem attacks to make a point, whereas Smith uses feelings and emotions tied with the core values of the United States of…

Discussion Assignment #4 (Reconstruction Video) In class we watched the Reconstruction video, my group discussed parts of the video that we found intriguing. The Reconstruction is a period after the Civil War which new rights towards African Americans began, however during that period of time the president Andrew Johnson was against the African-American’s being equally as free as whites. Our group found Andrew Johnson to be the most interesting part of the video as well as Jefferson Davis taking the seat of the former confederate president.…

I, Thomas Jefferson, am a firm believer in the Constitution and not borrowing money from others. But now I am in a predicament where I may have to violate my morals. I am able to obtain an immense tract of land for a comparatively cheap price of $15 million. The only thing is I do not have permission to buy land, declare the people living there citizens, nor do I have $15 million lying around. So to obtain this land I would have to borrow money from the British and defy the Constitution.…

Thomas Jefferson, one of the most popular founding fathers, the main author of the Declaration of Independence, and the third president of the United States of America was revered by his contemporaries and is still to this day a well respected figure in American history. But, this does not mean that the man had no faults. Often in todays world Thomas Jefferson is looked back upon and has been scrutinized by many for his apparent hypocrisy on matters such as slavery and on what he believed limitations of the federal government were to be. Although some of Jefferson’s past can be dark and questionable, he was no hypocrite, but a man who understood that his decisions would have lasting effects on the new country, and that putting his own personal…

Throughout her speech, Smith consistently talks about what it means to be an American. She repeatedly brings up the ideals that the founding fathers outline in the Constitution; she is trying to emphasize the point that what many of her colleagues have been doing is un-American. Smith uses words such as “Americanism”, “United States Senator”, and “Constitution” frequently (Smith 1-3). She often brings up the rights of citizens and reiterates how important those rights are to every American. Smith discusses the point that many Senators are abusing their American rights and ignoring the rights of others.…

Some examples of the historical accuracy of this film are the O.K Corral shooting being an exact replica of the real life version and the costumes are historically accurate. However, it wasn’t 100% historically accurate and the things that were inaccurate were the cowboys revenge was more spread out after the O.K Corral shooting and Johnny Ringo’s death was more of a mystery than depicted in the…

In class we recently viewed the 2010 film The Social Network that depicts the story of Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of Facebook, and how Facebook came to be. The film is supposed to be story-telling representation of how Facebook came to be, but has been criticized by a few unsatisfied and disapproving viewers, the most recognizable and perhaps important, being Mr. Zuckerberg himself. He criticized the film, and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, for embellishing his life story by including instances that never occurred as well as inaccurately depicting relationships. To those who have seen The Social Network, it seems as if the entire premise on which Zuckerberg based his idea for Facebook was that of revenge and his quest to join a prestigious social club. In reality however, this is completely false.…
