Kellan- my mother yells behind me, making my skin crawl out of fear, making me think that my happy day is over, she'll definitely send me home. - Where are you going?- she interrogates me. I turn around and I see her, I try to not act nervous. I'm going...to Jefferson's" I lie, begging for her not to discover me since that's the first thing that has crossed my mind.

Jefferson is my best friend, ever since childhood , when we moved to this zone my mother and his mom met and we used to play at his house, he had many toys and luckily his mom was a biologist so she used to build small robots for us which was really impressive for me, later on he and I grew, we distanced ourselves when I took the path this all this fucking town believes is dangerous and even if I begged him to come along with me to the woods to show him the opposite; his family had already convinced him that he shouldn't since it was really dangerous and all those stuff. But all that overprotection was because he is the only one from his family that inherited his grandfather's blond hair who passed away many years ago, probably devoured by creatures, in the lagging zone. …show more content…
