Developmental Stages Recognized at Jefferson Memorial Park The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the developmental stages that were observed at Jefferson Memorial Park on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 12:08 p.m. to 1:08 p.m. that an many individuals commonly experience throughout their life span. The developmental stages are categorized as infancy, preschool years, middle childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood (Feldman, 2014). Of these particular developmental stages, two stages were recognized which were the preschool and early adulthood years. The preschool years distinguishes children between ages three and six (p. 203). The early adulthood years relate to people about age 20 and about age 40 (p. …show more content…
This particular time of year is when schools are nearing the end of the academic year before beginning summer break. Therefore, most likely the preschool aged children would not be moving into a new class or starting school. Additionally, the respective early adulthood parent’s did not appear to be pregnant with additional children or starting a family. The children revealed confidence with the fact that their caregiver would be available to them, as needed. Due to previous experience between the parent and child, the children’s expectations of their caregiver developed, recognizing that the caregiver will be responsive to their needs. The characteristics associated with secure attachment during the observation revealed that contact initiated by the parent was readily accepted (Feldman, 2014, p. 184).
