Kentucky had always been crazy about Jefferson because he represented their beliefs. He promoted liberty, equality, religious freedom, and natural rights. He was considered a hero to many in Kentucky and an American icon. Thomas Jefferson was nominated by his coworkers to draft the declaration of independence due to his superior writing skills. After over two weeks of writing, Jefferson produced a draft to congress on June 28, 1776. After several revisions by Congress, the declaration was officially adopted on July 4, 1776 (Office of Historian, Dept. of State). There are thousands of visitors that come every year to visit the wealth of historical landmarks, and other area attractions. Among these attractions are the Kentucky Derby, Louisville Slugger Museum, Louisville Zoo, Muhamad Ali Center, Frazier History Museum, Thomas Edison home, Kentucky Science Center, Kentucky Fairgrounds, Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft and Locus Grove farm home (Law). There are dozens more sites to see with numerous shopping venues, restaurants, and parks to visit. Jefferson is a busy city where there is always something interesting going on.
