Josef Sudek's technique seems to be very simple, he has a basic subject or a very broad subject or main idea of the picture, all of his pictures are different but seem very alike to one another. World War ( July 28 1914 - November 11 1918 ).
Josef Sudek was born in 1896 in Kolin, Czech Republic. He was drafted into Hungarian Army in 1915.
He got a infection in his arm and had to have it amputated. Josef was introduced to art by his father, who was a painter. One of his dad’s friends introduced him to photography. He studied photography in prague after his amputation. Josef studied at the State School of Graphic Arts from 1920 - 1924.
He was inspired by Clarence White. At the beginning of his career he shot photos of injured or disabled
Czech soldiers. Josef was a very lonely and private person, most of his time was spend at his small studio in prague. He also photographed things he saw around him, often through his studio window, his garden, the city of Prague by day and by night, and its churches, as well as, other various objects: drinking glasses, flowers, seashells, crumpled paper, mirrors, frames, flasks.
