In 1941 the Willys MB and Ford GPW was created for military use. The Willys and Ford have a short name called Jeep, Jeep was standard for 4X4 off road vehicle. The Willys and Ford were created to move groups from point A to B. They were also used to get the soldiers to medical attention faster. The Jeep was produced to help the USA military. Why was the willys produced as a 4x4? Why wasn't the willys produced in 4 seat forms and not more?
The Willys was one of the best military vehicles built but there was a big issue, Willys could not build the Jeeps for the demand that the United States wanted so the company Ford created the GPW, both formally called the U.S. Army Truck, 1/4 ton 4x4.Willys was the world's first mass-produced 4-wheel drive

The four wheel drive vehicle was to mobilize the Allied forces from one point to another during the war, if was a big help in the war due to it go the troop to the point faster than walking and also save a lot of people when they were shot because it go them to a doctor safer and quicker.”To demonstrate the vehicles rugged, off- road capabilities, on of the very first Jeep models was driven up the steps of the U.S. capitol. When asked by a reporter what the name of the vehicle was, the test driver replied, “it’s a Jeep.”pg2/29”( writer, staff). The Willys MB was one of the best vehicles built for the army, it was so perfect that they were produced in six figures, and were produced for many years. Willys had a big issue through the war that the demand for their vehicle was so high they couldn't produce them fast enough so Willys had to Ford and asked if they could help produce the vehicles to the military's demands. Ford excepted t and help produce the vehicles but there was one issue Ford did not want to produce the same style so they called it the Ford GPW and changed the look of it by inserting the light into the grill and also adding a different type serial number on the hood which gave it the look to be different than …show more content…
The vehicle was built for the military but once the military people would retire the would want the vehicle they had in war due to how easy it was to work on and how it never died. So the demand for the vehicle was high for the citizens and wants the vehicle was welcome to people it was the best farm vehicle due to it was durable, heavy, Had 4 wheel drive, and was able to take attachment that where PTO drive for farm equipment. The Willys and Ford were where manufactured from 1941 to 1945 for the military. The military used it for transporting troops from point A to point B. After the military used them the local people wanted it along with farmers due to how good the vehicle withstand harsh conditions. The Willys came with many different options it had a PTO drive which came with, the PTO could run many thing from, saws to farm equipment. “Jeep has a front PTO winch and engine driven air compressor. It has a welding unit in the passenger seat area, and a side arm mower bar on the driver’s side. It also has a rear towing boom and a Newgren buzz saw with table.
