Jean Ross is the radio personality for V-103’s radio station. Her first ever interview was with Muhammad Ali. Ms. Ross’s job background is a years worth of accomplishments and experiences. Her position and role at the radio station, career path, and experiences, is something well worth knowing. Position and Role at the Radio Station Interviewing a radio personality has its perks because you learn about the work you wouldn’t know they would have to take on in their particular job. Ms. Ross is an Operations Manager, News Director, and Program Manager at V-103, one of the most listened radio stations in Atlanta. She has been in the radio industry for more than 25 years. One of her roles at the radio station is hiring people. Ms. Ross advised me when hiring people at the radio station they look for:

• The individual must reside in Atlanta, Georgia
• Had some experience in a smaller market
• Doesn’t necessarily have to have experience in the radio industry
• MUST have some form of talent

Working in the radio industry, you must be fluent in how you speak. Every second counts when you’re live on the radio. She also states that commercials are important because that is what generates revenue for the radio station. College Internships used to take place at the radio station. Being a critical thinker and looking beyond the headlines is something that has helped her throughout life. She also mentioned that “being patient and learning things take time.” Versatility is another great attribute that has helped her gain experience. A quote of hers: “In order to be successful you have to be willing to change and learn something new.” Most importantly, Ms. Ross states that “putting in extra time will get the job done effectively.” An insightful attribute of Ms. Ross is that she is very sarcastic and funny.
