Prewriting
The idea of prewriting is so the writer can organize all his thoughts onto paper to construct a well written essay. The key to prewriting is starting early, staying on topic, and having a variety of ideas to include in the paper. Many writers have trouble with prewriting because it takes time to think what to write about. Jean Kerr, a famous writer, admitted she reads soup can labels to avoid her time thinking of something to write (3). In Steps to Writing Well, Jean Wyrick delivers many ways on how to avoid the panic of starting from nothing. When constructing a long essay, writers can avoid being boring by asking themselves questions such like Am I moving beyond writing just to myself? Am I making myself clear to others who might not know what I mean? It is always better to have a broad subject so that the paper has a variety of points rather than it repeating the points over. But if the subject is too broad then ask questions like, Is this important to my topic? Does it flow with the rest of my paper?

Each individual paragraph that is made from the body should contain a new and different reasoning to support the argument. The best way to write the body is to plan, organize, and give plenty of details. Wyrick states, “It can be helpful going back to prewriting and discovering which ideas surfaced then (48).” When the writer uses the method to write whatever comes to mind it allows for the writer to have a much larger selection of supporting details. It is beneficial to plan the body because more ideas will surface and therefore can be broken down to support the paper.
