It is considered as an uprising for rural people and it is important for Napoleon to become this much imperative for everybody. Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres painted Napoleon I. in a powerful way to make his authority more influential. Also he wanted to emphasize where his authority could reach by using lots of symbols which refers to ancient times. There are lots of things to say about this gorgeous portrait of Napoleon. I gave lots of examples about its colors, the Napoleon’s attitude, what we can observe by looking his face and his clothes to analyze more easily. I do not think that this portrait did get enough attention and care because it criticized about being too much like a medieval portrait but I think that it is important to reach back in history and Ingres represented this theme in a proper way.
