Drawing on evolutionary theory, I hypothesized that physical infidelity leads to more mate abandonment behavior in men than emotional infidelity, while emotional infidelity leads to more mate abandonment behavior in women than physical infidelity. Previous research has demonstrated sex differences in emotional responses to infidelity. Men demonstrate greater jealousy in response to a partner's physical infidelity, whereas women demonstrate greater jealousy in response to a partner's emotional infidelity (Buss et al., 1992). These sex differences in jealousy are further supported by Trivers' (1972) Parental Investment Theory, which states that a man's reproductive fitness is endangered by sexual infidelity, and a woman's reproductive

Analysis of the impact of love and jealousy A Separate Peace is filled with both love and jealousy as seen through the friendship, between two people known as Gene and Finny. Jealousy can not only destroy one’s self, but also others around them. If one is not careful their jealousy can turn into bitterness and hatred, eating them alive and causing them to become a person that was never thought possible. Love can also make a person blind to other people's actions, making them very gullible to the situation.…

The Relationship Between Insecurity and Temptation One of the most vital expressions in the story of Christianity is that one should try their best to stray away from temptation, as it will take a person on the path of evil. In the short story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” it is obvious that the main character, Connie, has many problems. This leads her to undergo many forms of personal judgement, such as trying to reassure herself that she looks perfect every minute of every day.…

There are several types of investments that keep us from discovering or uncovering the roots of trauma. “People tend to criticize their spouse most loudly in the area where they themselves have the deepest emotional need.” Pg. 100 I disagree with Chapman’s statement because I believe that people tend to criticize their spouse most loudly in the area that they work hard to show their love through and not where they have their deepest emotional need. It is not a sense of need, rather a sense of acknowledging their effort. One person can be showing acts of service but what they seek most are words of affection.…

Domestic violence is such a horrible thing that can be done by a partner or ex-partner. It is more atrocious if done during pregnancy as two lives will be affected. In fact, a new study just revealed that domestic violence inflicted on pregnant women can result in adverse conditions on the expectant mother and more importantly, on the baby. Science Daily reports that the cause of domestic violence during pregnancy can increase the risk of preterm birth, small-for-gestational-age babies and low birth weight, according to research. The aim of the study was to further delve into the concept of jealousy occurring differently within females as it does in males, focusing on evolutionary psychology, in regard to childbearing and loss of resources through infidelity. Participants were given two hypothetical scenarios, one involving sexual infidelity and the other involving emotional infidelity, and were asked to identify which one they found more distressing. The results indicated emotional infidelity was perceived as more upsetting for women and men found sexual infidelity more distressing. This was shown not only in their voiced responses but in their physiological responses as well. This presented a further understanding of human relationships and adaptation that has occurred to cause these subconscious physiological responses to emotional triggers, and how they differ between men and…
