Jealousy Is Not the Best Policy
In Ray Bradbury’s short story All Summer in a Day there is a girl named Margot, and she is from Earth, her classmates on the other hand, they are from Venus. In the story, Margot's classmates are jealous of her.
First, the students are wondering if they will ever see the sun again, because they are on Venus, and on Venus it rains, non-stop, for seven years, but once seven years is done, all the students have “All Summer in a Day, however to Margot this is not a big surprise, because she is from earth, and on earth there are many days with lots of rain and sunshine. For example, Margot’s teacher tells the class to write a poem, a small story, or essays, about the sun, and Margot finished her poem, and she said

Then, when William has already done damage to Margot he says “Hey, everyone, let’s put her in a closet before teacher comes!” (pg.2), because he got jealous at the fact that Margot could see the sun more often, than he could ever dream of. Lastly, as the Sun is about to appear, their teacher arrives to take the class outside to enjoy their two hours of sunshine and, in their astonishment and joy, they all forget about Margot, because they lied to their teacher by saying that everybody was here even though everybody was present, but once it started to rain again, everybody had to go underneath a tunnel for …show more content…
The students were ashamed, and they let her out of the closet, standing frozen, embarrassed over what they have done, and the students were not even able to make eye contact with Margot, because of what they have done. The students made Margot miss the precious Sun came out, but then it went away, because of their despicable act, and Margot loved the sun. For example, when the students were walking down the hallway, they listening to rain, because they were saddened at the fact that the sun was gone, and then “They turned through the doorway to the room in the sound of the storm and thunder, lightning on their faces, blue and terrible…” (pg.4), and they felt this way, because they realized that Margot was correct about the sun, and beautiful it is. Lastly, never let jealousy, get the best of you, because jealousy is a powerful feeling, because you do or say something, that you will regret, and regret, and realize later, that you have made a terrible mistake.
Therefore, in All Summer in a Day, by. Ray Bradbury, jealously was clearly shown in the story. Jealousy is shown when, Margot criticized about her poem, when she could talk to other people, when she was locked inside of a closet, etc. The decision that the students made were due to the actions of jealousy, the fact that Margot could see the sun, almost every single day, because she lived on Earth,
