On the quad, a common place for spending time and relaxing in-between passing periods, a boy named John sees another boy kissing a girl that John likes. John feels jealousy towards this boy, due affection he feels for the girl. A scene similar to this one can be seen in the play, Othello, when Rodrigo sees Desdemona kissing her husband Othello (Putnam, Jennifer). Rodrigo feels jealousy just as John felt jealousy when seeing the two kiss. These scenes demonstrate jealousy, a component …show more content…
In our current day and age, society, specifically for adolescents, plays a very large role in their lives. Society has the power to influence our decisions, how we react, and how we feel within ourselves. In this world of total equality no one can do anything about the jealousy they feel either. They just sit and brood, unable to feel a drive to succeed and become as brilliant as others. This is not the only problem that individuality could bring: self-worth is something…

William Shakespeare once wrote, “We all are men, in our own natures frail, and capable of our flesh; few are angels.” Just as Shakespeare once stated that “men” have their flaws, so does Othello. Othello’s jealousy of a possible affair between Desdemona and Cassio that develops throughout the play causes irrational behaviour. Othello’s unwavering trust in Iago causes a sequence of events that ultimately results in a tragic ending for everyone. The Shakespearean play Othello revolves around the life of the tragic hero, Othello. For a man of high honor with an impeccable military knowledge, he is foolish and cruel to his wife, so why does he remain as a sympathetic character? Like a child who is manipulated because of their naive nature, Othello was exploited due to his love for Desdemona. The two individuals portray jealousy when deprived of love and in their perspective, the best solution can be resolved through violence. The audience feels pathos for Othello because of his childlike mentality, insinuating that maturity is measured by one's intelligence, regardless of their age.…
