Beowulf fights Grendel, an angry monster that keeps eating the Geats. Grendel comes out of his swampland every night and dashes into the meads-hall, and he devours Hrothgar’s people. Grendel, a depressed and hopeless monster, comes into Herot one night believing the night will be like all others. What Grendel does not know, is Beowulf hides in the dark waiting for him. Grendel, believing Beowulf is powerless, devours one of the Geats, and he begins to grab at Beowulf. Beowulf seizes him, and Grendel only wants freedom from this strong hero. Beowulf descends into the dragon’s home and screams out to tell the dragon he is there. The dragon’s mouth burst with flames and hits Beowulf’s shield. Beowulf holds his mighty sword and begins to swing it but, unfortunately, it fails him and barley makes a mark. All of Beowulf’s warriors run away from this terrible dragon, except the committed Wiglaf. Together the two warriors kill the dragon but with an expense. As Beowulf becomes fatally wounded, Wiglaf finds a lot of treasure and takes it back to the deathbed of his leader. Beowulf, nearing the end of his life, cries out to God and tells Wiglaf to take the treasure and keep the Geats safe.
In conclusion, Beowulf fights in three life-threatening battles. Grendel, Grendel’s Mother, and the dragon are all difficult battles to win, but Beowulf is a warrior like no other. Beowulf goes into some scary places to save his people and prove his
