Jealousy and anger are common everywhere you go. From video games to real life countries, jealousy can always be found. In the story “All Summer in a Day” by: Ray Bradbury, a girl is put on Venus and is picked on by all the other Venusian kids for remembering the sun. They are mad, you see, because the sun only ever comes out every 7 years for only 2 hours. The reason for writing this is so the two themes of the story “All Summer in a Day,” which are jealousy and anger, can be shown and told to you. In the first paragraph we will talk about the theme jealousy. All the kids from Venus are jealous of Margot for remembering the sun. The found proof of this is the following, “ And, of course, the biggest crime of all….” The kids from Venus think that remembering the sun was a crime. The second piece of evidence put together is what happened during Margot's poem. “ I think the suns a flower/that blooms for just one hour. “Aw, you didn't write that,” protested on of the boys.” The kids living on Venus don't believe Margot could write something as nice as that because they didn't know the real Margot. …show more content…
It is almost always for a different reason, or almost always for the same reason, however. In the story “All Summer in a Day” the kids from Venus all hate Margot for remembering the sun. Now here is how they showed their anger. “Hey everyone, let's put her in a closet before the teacher comes. The kids did this because they thought Margot was lying to them about what the sun was like. The second piece of evidence for this paragraph is this, “Then one of the girls gave a little cry. “Margot!” “What?” “She is still in the closet where we locked her.” “Margot….” “ One of the girls said “Well….”They unlocked the door, even more slowly, and let Margot out.” The Venusian kids felt bad about what they did to Margot, as most people do after the end of a fight or an

The other children who live on Venus have only seen the sun once when they were two years old. I think that the theme of this story is that jealousy can make people do things that they wouldn’t normally do because of the way they treat Margot because she can still remember the sun. For example, when Margot was writing a poem about the sun, a boy named William exclaimed. “‘Aw, you didn’t write that!”’ That shows how much tension is between her and the other kids.…

It rains every day there and no one has seen the sun in a long time, except for a small girl named Margot who is bullied for remembering the sun when the other children don’t. Margot was “a very frail girl who looked as if she had been lost in the rain for years and the rain had washed out the blue from her eyes and the red from her mouth and the yellow from her hair. She was an old photograph dusted from an album, whitened away, and if she spoke at all her voice would be a ghost.” This confirms what Margot looks like. The story hints that something happened to Margot that caused her to be this way.…

For example Margot has seen the sun before with the memory of it because she lived on the earth for 4 years before she actually moved to Venus. She keeps writing poems on how the sun looks like, for example she writes a poem about how the sun is like a flower the blooms for just one hour. She is petty much just telling people how the sun looks to make herself feel better. But the other kids don't really believe that she has been on earth for four years and has seen the sun before with memory of it. The setting helps hammer the feelings of joy that the kids feel when they see the sun, and the buildup to seeing the sun, Having it be on another planet can give the reader a new perspective on the story. This setting builds on the story, and the story builds on the setting. In Susan K. Glaspell's "A Jury of Her Peers", the setting is a country town in mid-west America during the 1900's. The planet Venus is a cherished memory, and gift, given to Jeannette by her father as a Christmas present. In astrology, Venus symbolizes happiness and the pleasure that comes from sharing this happiness with others, while also dealing with the appreciation for one’s possessions (Astrology). This connects to the story and its themes of possession, wealth, and the strength that can be found in hope and love. Although the family was low on money and could not afford gifts for their children, Rex understood that a unique yet unconventional gift, such as a star, would hold more meaning than a toy ever could. Venus was merely an object in the sky, but for Jeannette, it was something only she was privy to, and it was hers, and it could not be broken,…

In this story many of the children on Venus are jealous of Margot’s opportunities and previous life on earth. When children are jealous, they turn against Margot. One example is when she is reading the poem, instead of listening to Margot the students shut her down without even listening. Just because students are jealous it does not mean that they can bully Margot. While this is important theme it is easily seen that if it weren’t for Margot not thinking about what she said or did that this wouldn’t have happened, so overall the important point is that it is needed for everyone to take a minute an think about the results in the end from what they…
