I have been working in JCPenney's for almost a year; I have gained experience in the customer service field and developed skills that will help me for the rest of my professional life. I have been working as a customer service specialist and for some months I was assisting the women's department manager, Lilian Ruiz, as a merchandise assistant. Kathryn, as a new store manager, needs to gain the confidence and trust of her department heads and sales associates. Part of accomplishing this task is by providing her employees the opportunity to communicate with her through an open-door policy when it comes to questions or concerns with tasks. To enhance and reinforce the lines of communication, store meetings should be scheduled.…

With a slogan like “Live Your Life, Love Your Job”, it’s impossible for an employee at American Eagle to not have a great experience, right? Wrong. Unfortunately, what they fail to tell employees is how hard it is to “love” their job when dealing with the types of customers that stroll into the store. Potential employees will train and prepare to become a sales associate, but it is hard to account for all the types of customers they will interact with, or try to help, on the sales floor at American Eagle. Occasionally, there will be a stream of polite customers who value the stores clothes and employees, but it is not something to get used to.…

In the film Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, it has shown me how much young girls and women in worldwide are not getting the equal opportunities compared to men. As I was watching the film, many young girls are not getting educated due to their non-supportive environments where their family traditions are for women to be working for the family as they do not believe in women getting education, and as a girl they are to be married off to or sell their body to support family financially. Before I watched this film, I knew women in other countries did not get education because their family economic situations and unsupportive family for females in the household, but these ideas were just so normalized to…
