Jc Reflection

JC continuously exhibits a positive mindset. He is always the first one to volunteer help, has many friends, and works hard through any challenge presented. He is extremely eager to participate and help others. Before I can even ask for a volunteer for help, JC has his hand in air. JC is reflective and proactive about his school work. On a few occasions after reflecting on his classwork, he has asked to come upstairs during lunch for extra support or work time. This is an example of JC taking responsibility for his learning. I would like JC to continue being reflective and proactive about his learning.

JC shows an avid interest in reading. He tends to gravitate towards series books such as Horrible Harry or Marvin Redpost. His gravitation toward series books is an example of being a reflective learner because series books help support his comprehension work because the character remain the same and the plotline is slightly different. An ongoing goal for JC is to continue to build up his reading stamina but

Early on in the year, JC would write a few lines about an idea and move on to another idea. Now he has increased his writing volume about one idea. He shows an understanding about the genre of writing. I want to continue to work on increasing his independence during writing workshop. At times, JC benefits from verbally rehearsing his writing. On several occasions during the narrative unit we set up time for JC to share his thoughts about writing with myself, class intern, or writing partner. I noticed that this help JC clarify his thoughts and elaborate on his writing. His realistic fiction piece went from just naming who the character was and what was happening to a more developed plotline with more details. It’s critical to extend work on structure and elaboration within opinion writing. One way to remind JC about structure and elaboration during opinion writing is by using the asking him to double

This profile of the place appeared as odd assignment for me. This assignment being a partner project was completely unexpected. Colonial Country Club is foreign as undiscovered land for me, I had to rely on my partner for preparation for the interview. I did not know what to expect, or what is expected from me in this exclusive society. We distributed the parts of the interview as Matt preparing the questions and I took the responsibility to incorporate the interviewer’s oral response into our essay.…

Kayson’s work seems really rushed and lacks planning and details. As the instructor, I would encourage Kayson to complete a brainstorming map before starting the written portion of a narrative. This would allow Kayson to think of many things to write about before starting his draft. I would also encourage Kayson to write more than one draft before turning in his final copy. I believe that adding additional steps to the process would improve the thoughtfulness in Kayson’s work as well as discourage him from rushing through his writing too…

I just finished meeting with Robert & Sandra. After consulting with the Senate and UPC chair we have begrudgingly concluded that it would in the best interest of CAECO students to support the following senate motion. The retraction of the motion could result in the likelihood that CAECO majors would have only an approximately 25% chance of being able to register for their desired elective courses. It is important to note that recent history has shown that over 75% of the students enrolled in CAECO electives are non-CAECO majors. After thoughtful deliberation we felt that this would not be an appropriate risk.…

Sandra, I could think of one area in which to me the 5Cs did not do a good enough job for improved patient outcomes and that would be in the area of patient identification because it relies on verbal affirmation of name (Institute for Safe Medical Practices, 2011). I work at the VA and for whatever reason I have and can have three John Richardsons in one night to care for of my six patients all clustered in the same area (some may be spelled slightly different)! Or all my patients or in for the same condition. I have had to stop many doctors from going into the wrong room to consult on a patient when they have just scribbled the name of the patient on a piece of paper. Sometimes I do not catch them in time and they walk out asking why certain…

According to a study done by Achieve Inc. in 2005, fifty percent of students that graduate high school are not prepared for college-level writing (Santrock, 2011, 370). While this lack of preparedness roots all the way back to the beginning of learning how to write, a great deal of knowledge about becoming a better writer can be learned in high school English classes if the teachers apply different writing techniques. In chapter eleven of John Santrock’s textbook Educational Psychology and Sharon Zumbrunn and Keegan Krause’s article “Conversations with Leaders: Principles of Effective Writing Instruction” many best practices for teaching writing are given in hopes to provide teachers with numerous ways to teach their students to become better…

Reflecting on the past long, but yet short four years of high school, I cannot help but be exhilarated for the next four to come. I can remember the first day that I walked into the JROTC room like it was just yesterday, butterflies floating in my stomach, my nerves everywhere with a smile on my face because I knew that is where I belong. As time went I took advantage of the program by joining the Armed Drill team as another cadet. Within one year of hard work and innumerable amount of practice I became a squad leader following up to be the first female commander of the Armed Drill team that Sam Houston High has seen. With the proficiency that JROTC has taught me, I decided that it was time to seek out my dream by talking to a recruiter.…

Today I presented my untitled poem to the class. My poem was about my life here in Pensacola and some of my opinions on staying here and leaving. I really didn’t have any major inspiration to the poem besides the fact that I have been watching a ton of college move in videos on youtube. I always say things like “I hate Pensacola” or “there’s nothing to do here” (which I still agree with) and “I can’t wait until I leave”, but honestly, I can wait. I can wait forever.…

During my time in high school, I expose myself to various fields through extracurricular activities that have provided necessary skills. The JROTC program has improved my public speaking and collaborative skills. JROTC is an Army based program that exposes today's youth to first-hand leadership roles. They exercise the importance of moral qualities as well as expanding intellectual capabilities. What is more important is that students practice writing. Teachers also need to devote time to feedback through individual sessions or “conferences”. There are typically two types of conferences: a content conference in which the teacher asks the student about his or her story and a skill conference where the teacher emphasizes basic writing skills such as spelling, punctuation and…
