In the world, there are many cultures, so there are different dances that come from those cultures. Some dances can be viewed as similar because they have similar techniques but come from different cultures. Every dance that originated from a different culture is unique and has a different background story about how their dance was created and came to be known around the world. Every dance requires so much time, effort, compassion, determination, and practice that few people will sacrifice it all. Ballet and jazz are two of many dance styles around the world that are well known and require all of those aspects. The Americans wanted to take away what the Africans had created, so they moved to Europe, where they introduced the popular jazz dance and music. This musical style had a direct influence on the development of jazz dancing. Jazz dancing was impacted by modern and ballet dance. Jazz developed a visual character by combining the modern dance with the classical technique of ballet. Jazz is composed of an energetic dance style that combines athletic and gymnastic qualities. Jazz has a very interesting background story of how it came to be, but as it got to develop and evolve, we can see how it can relate to and have common traits with ballet. Although ballet and jazz are two very different dance forms, they have certain things in common. Both are interpretations of movement that require technique and skill to perform. Both styles of dance require years of training and practice in order to master the skills. Ballet and jazz both need a solid technical base.
