Jazz Concert Review

It was a pleasure and convenience to have experience a live Jazz concert at Medgar Evers College on Saturday May 6, 2017, the title of the concert was JAZZ! The women’s viewpoint. What made this performance unique and special that it consisted of all female orchestra, who shined individually and together produce a chemistry hypnotizing the assembly? The audience were mainly older ladies and gentlemen. Whereas, I was the only youthful, and most likely student there. It was obvious that the audience was passionate about Jazz music. Many of them expressed their appreciated by closing their eyes, all while moving their heads from side to side in a rhythmic motion as the concert proceeded and transitioned there was some finger snapping the majority of the guest has smiles on their faces, while others appear to be in awe. …show more content…
I am not sure if it had anything to with her being white and the crowed being all black or if she was just out shadowed by the drummer.
The last performer keyboarder Michelle Rosewoman was also great but she was not provided with a pedal board, so she stomped her feet on the floor to mimic the missing pedal board which distracted me from her performance. She provided a mix of her Latin heritage along with jazz which ended in a unique musical experience for me.
My second live performance was different from my first but it had more diversity and I was able to recognize and immediately detect the variety of pitches, tempo, and dynamics as they changed throughout the concert. This performance was primarily focused on the instruments as there wasn’t much singing from the vocalist involve except for a maximum of 4 lines then the focus went back to the band. However, I am happy that I got to experience this performance and have a new respect for Jazz and Blues as it plays a huge role and have heavily influence the music that I love and listen to
