Jay Wilds accounting of what happened on January 13th 1999, can be called unreliable. On that day Hae Min Lee was supposedly murdered by Adnan Syed, her ex boyfriend. Most of the evidence that was used to put Adnan Syed in jail, for life, was Jay account for that day. Jay has told what happened on that january day seven different times, four police interviews, two trial testimonies, and an interview with the intercept. Each time Jay told his story it changed. Jay’s testimony shouldn’t have been used as evidence that Adnan did it, due to the inconsistencies. There is one thing that gives Jay’s story weight and that is, he knew where Hae’s car was and he consistently says that Adnan showed him Hae’s body.

Cathy isn’t her real name and we don’t know it, still these two saw jay and they didn’t really help jay with his statements. Jenn is the main component that helps tell what Jay did that day. Jay and Jenn’s story don’t match up that often for example: “So, Jenn says that she got home first, and later Jay walks in. Jay says exactly the opposite: he says he went over to the Pusateri home not to hang out with Jenn but to hang out with Mark, Jenn’s little brother.” (Susan Simpson). Susan Simpson is also from the Undisclosed podcast. Jay and Jenn then agree that Jay left Jenn’s house at around 3:30, 3:40, and at the latest 4:15. Colin explains the significance of this, “. And that’s significant because, if we believe this, it completely undermines a couple of key components of the State’s case. And the first is what was referenced as “the Nisha call” on the Serial podcast. Again, this was the claim by the State that Adnan had to have killed Hae and been with his phone by 3:32, which was when the Nisha call was made. Well, that’s entirely inconsistent with the story by both Jay and Jenn that Jay was still at Jenn’s house until at least 3:40 p.m. And if we look at Jay specifically, this isn’t simply a matter of, well, maybe he was wrong about the time. Jay very specifically says, “I was waiting for a call at 3:30 p.m. That call didn’t come ’til later.” So it’s not him just guessing at the time. He has a very specific sign post as to why this call was after 3:30.” (Miller). Colin Miller continues with a second point, “Second, if we look at Adnan’s call log, there isn’t an incoming call anywhere around 3:40 p.m. The last call before that is 3:15 p.m., and the next one is 4:30. And so Jay and Jenn’s story about Jay getting this call from Adnan at around 3:40 or so doesn’t match up with any recorded call on Adnan’s call log. And that means that really the only detail about Jay’s trip
