Jayden Mcqueen Narrative

Improved Essays
Jayden McQueen didn't want to die in the cold Alaskan snow. Of course, she hadn't wanted to die in the backwoods of North Carolina, in her newly bought home or the rain-slicked streets of Italy, but it happened.
Despite her dark thoughts, the chance of actually freezing to death out here was low. The ogre would kill her before that happened. She let out a laugh that sounded like a snort. Wow, she was pessimistic tonight. She blamed the weather.
Her breath formed a cloud around her face, reminding her once more how cold it was. Her lungs burned, and her fingers ached. She has been hunting this ogre for hours. Hours ago she was supposed to be vacationing on the warm sandy beaches of the Caribbean sipping a Pina Colada. Her boss had called her

She couldn't go home to her warm bed until the ogre was caught and relocated. The monster had been eating farmer's cattle for months, and more recently, their children. That was when the SRP, Supernatural Relocation Program, was called in. The Agency gets a call about a supernatural creature causing trouble and sends an agent to take care of it.
Jayden sighed and continued following the ogre’s trail. She turned on her gift and the world was filled with color. Everyone has a signature and she was the only one she knew who has this so-called gift. To her it was a curse. The ogre could cover its tracks all it wanted, it wouldn't escape her. She continued to follow the murky yellow signature of the ogre when she stopped at the bottom of a hill. She breathed in deeply several times before continuing on. She wanted to be at her best before she continued.
Ogres were lethal creatures. It had quick reflexes that couldn't be seen by the human eye, but have poor eyesight and rely on their sense of smell. Even with the poor eyesight, they were lethal. If it sneaked up on her she was in more danger than a knight fighting the

“So I take it you won't go willingly?”
“Not likely, Hunter. Come, let's finish this.”
It walked a few steps away from the fire and waited. Jayden walked over and the beast launched its arm at her, taloned fingers ready to grab flesh. Jayden rolled under the attack and danced around the fire, waiting for it to expose its belly- the most vulnerable body part. Without warning, the ogre jumped over the flames with its arms outstretched towards her. Its feet dragged in the flames burning the fur away. Jayden got low and stabbed its belly and dived through its legs. It caught her mid-dive and bit her shoulder. White-hot agony flared in her arm and spread throughout her body.
“Son of a rotten corpse!” It shook her like a chew toy and she fought against her base instinct to squirm. If she did, she'd only injure herself further. With a battle cry, she took the dagger from the ogre’s belly and stabbed again and again. Finally it let her go, and passed out due to its injuries.
Jayden crawled out from under the ogre and called a warlock to open the ogre reservation portal. When it opened a few minutes later, Jayden dragged the troll to the portal and let it fall in. It was gone

Commemoration Destroyed As a twelve year old, a rather normal, everyday twelve year old with big ambitions and an impressive talent for soccer, suddenly no words could be formed or found! How could Jayden convey the depth of his worries upon hearing such terrible news? Like it or not, the new utopian government, which had taken over everything would soon require an act called “mandatory commemoration” of each of its citizens the day after his or her 16th birthday.
