In the 1990’s, there were a lot of crimes that escalated very far. One of the crimes that caught the eyes of many people would be the Jaycee Dugard kidnapping. Jaycee Dugard was kidnapped in 1991 and was not found until 2009. Jaycee was found and is still living to tell her story that happened continuously for eighteen years.
On June 10, 1991, Jaycee Dugard was walking home in South Lake Tahoe, California, from the bus stop in her favorite pink outfit after school. It was a normal day, nothing could go wrong, right? Well wrong, June 10th was the day things changed the lives of many people. Jaycee was abducted just at the age of eleven by a convicted rapist, Phillip Garrido. Jaycee’s step-father, Carl Probyn watched Phillip and Nancy kidnap Jaycee, jumped on his mountain bike to go after them but ended up not being able to catch up. Phillip had help kidnapping Jaycee with his wife Nancy Garrido. Phillip was on parole for being a registered sex offender and for kidnapping a woman back in 1976. He was sentenced fifty years for kidnapping and raping this woman, but only served ten and a half years. No one would've thought that Phillip would go back to trying to lure young girls in after he got released. Three years later, Phillip and Nancy Garrido kidnapped eleven year old Jaycee Dugard (Roberts).

When the parole would address a meeting, Jaycee and her kids out be relatives coming from out of town. On August 24th, 2009, Phillip and Jaycee showed up on the campus of Califonia-Berkeley with their children. The UCPD (University of California Police Department) ordered a different police officer to conduct a background check.
