The “War Guilt Clause” portion of the Versailles Treaty compelled the German nation to accept full responsibility for starting the war. Also, Germany was accountable for all the material damages, they had to pay war reparations of the amount of fifty-six million dollars, their military was limited to a one hundred thousand men, and their previous colonies was divided among the allied powers, prohibition of tanks, and German Air force .The sole purpose of the Treaty of Versailles was to weaken Germany, so that an initiation of a new war could be avoided. The League of Nations also contributed to the inevitability of the war because, it had established rules and regulations for countries to abide by, however it lacked an army, and the ability to enforce its protocols, and provide consequences for nations that went contrary to the rules and regulations such as Japan’s invasion of Manchuria. Moreover there were underlying issues in Europe that prevented them from coming to a common consensus to solve the global economic crisis. Moreover the Munich Agreement also contributed in the sense that it allowed Germany to annex part of Czechoslovakia known as Sudetenland.
