Jaws Compare And Contrast

“ I couldn’t possibly write Jaws today at least, not in a good conscience anyway,” said Peter Benchley, the author of Jaws. On the other hand, all sharks are different from each other, just like the saying “no two snowflakes are the same” I think it’s the same with sharks no two sharks are the same. However, sharks make me think because they all have their own different identities and none are exactly the same and I wish to have a baby shark sometime in my lifetime. Better yet, I would want a great white shark and when it gets big enough that it won't fit in a fish tank I will take it to the ocean and it can have free reign of which aquatic animals it wants to eat and which ones it doesn’t want to eat. Great white sharks are very unique. Great white sharks can swim as deep as 3,000 feet. As a result, of them swimming that deep is then, they can catch the buoyancy of dead fish and other animals. On the other hand, they are grey with white underbellies that help them hide from their predators and sneak up on their prey. Also, Great Whites have razor sharp teeth that help them tear the flesh off of rotting carcasses and other animals. In conclusion, Great Whites have very unique characteristics that most people don’t know about them. …show more content…

Making himself credible, Stewart made sure to inform the audience that he has a degree in Biology and is also a professional underwater diver and photographer. In crediting himself, this lets the audience believe that he is correct about the biological facts about sharks and the ocean that he presents throughout the documentary. To provide further credibility for himself and the documentary, Stewart has numerous biologists and shark experts to speak on behalf of shark behavior and cruelty. For example, to credit his claim that sharks do not harm humans often or on purpose, Stewart has a shark behaviorist speak about how rare shark attacks really are, and that they only bite people out of curiosity, not to do any real harm or to “eat” the person. With having a biologist that specializes in sharks support Stewart’s facts and main points, this makes the documentary much more believable and credible.…

Science Paper Marine biologists study the behaviors of all marine organisms. They also have a lot of knowledge on all marine organisms. However, everything there is to know about the carnivorous great white sharks’ species hasn’t been discovered yet. Scientists can only do so much with these organisms in a controlled environment (or captivity) before an incident occurs where the shark either dies or puts others in danger. Erik Vance’s article, “Why Great White Sharks Are Still a Mystery to Us” provides examples of instances where great whites were put in captivity: “They refuse to live behind glass—in captivity some have starved themselves or slammed their heads against walls.…

In the viewfind of my camera, I had at last framed the one thing that I most longed to photograph, a live, in captivity lemon shark. Tangerine looked at me with suspicious, yet curious eyes, no doubt wondering why I smelled of fish, as the water was tinted a slight red. Tangerine was a stunning, powerful creature, of 11 years old, about halfway through his lifespan. Since he was a lemon shark, he had a pale, yet vibrant shade of a soft mustard that had been mixed with a softer, sandy color, which is what it felt like to roll my hand on the left side as he circled me for the fish I had in my pocket, his flesh was squishy like slime, but also had a sandy feeling to it. Lemon sharks in captivity have a lesser brightness to the shade of yellow…

The Great White Sharks along with a few other marine organisms such as stingrays, chimaera and skates are unique as their skeletons are made of cartilage rather than bone. Majority of Great Whites can measure up to a whopping 15 feet (4.6 metres) with an average weight of 1,500-2,450 pounds. Females tend to grow larger than males and some specimens have been recorded exceeding 20 feet (6 metres) and weighing up to 5000 pounds. The Great White has a slate, grey upper body which aids them when trying to blend in with rocky coastal sea floor and their name derives from their white underbellies. Their powerful tails can propel them through the water at speeds of 24km/h due to their extremely streamlined, torpedo shaped bodies.…
