Have you ever had to form an army and steal a piece of golden fleece? Well let me tell you about a man who has. In this paper I will be telling you events before the Argonauts, the journey to get the Golden Fleece, and the end of Jason’s story. Jason’s story starts when he was a young boy living in ancient Greece. As a baby Jason was sent to live with the centaur Chiron. His uncle Pelias murdered Jason’s father, Aeson, the king of Iolcus. Lolus was a pretty big town in ancient Greece, it is where the modern town of Volos is. Pelias also killed Jason’s siblings. Jason was away so he did not worry about Jason taking the kingdom. Jason lost a sandal on his way to confront Pelias. Jason was told by Pelias “King of lolcus” that if Jason brought back the Golden Fleece from Colchis, then Jason would be king. Pelias forced Jason to go on the quest for the Golden Fleece because an Oracle prophesied that a man who lost a sandal in a stream would take his kingdom. …show more content…
The Golden Fleece was fleece from the Golden Ram. The Golden Ram was a gift to the people of Greece from The god Zeus, god of the skies. The Golden Fleece was in Colchis and Jason would have to go there to retrieve it. To help him retrieve the Golden Fleece, Jason formed an army. This army was the Argonauts. The Argonauts were a band of Greek Heroes. They came together around the same time as the Trojan Wars. Argonauts means “Argo Sailors”. The Argo was the ship that Jason used for his
