A family man is typically considered as a gentleman who lives his life with his family at the center and has a heart that puts those members first and foremost. Jared Mang fits the mold superbly. Mang grew up in a family whose passions were the game of baseball and he was no different than the rest. His baseball career began early when, as a three year old, he got to play on a t-ball team that was coached by both of his parents. Their support hasn’t wavered; his parents continue to be extremely supportive and push him to succeed and build him up. People take it really seriously so it’s special to be a part of.” Jared’s excitement and passion for the opportunities he’s been given thanks to the sport that he loves is easily recognized by his performance and genuine spirit. As his journey has progressed, his support system has only grown. Starting with his parents and his family, picking up coaches and teammates along the way, and now he has the support of his fans. This support is a type of appreciation that cannot be put into words. “When the fans get out there and they’re excited about it, it just makes us want to play that much more. The support is big time!”

Jared Mang continued to prove that with hard work and dedication, the dreams of a little kid are capable of one day being a reality. He is a strong believer that if you “work your tail off” then there is no reason why someone cannot accomplish their dream. “Don’t ever

In both Unyong-jon and Mujong (The Heartless) the roles of the women characters serve as critical players for progression of the novels. From the novel Unyong-jon, the characters of Unyong can be compared to the character of Park Yong-ch’ae from Mujong. Due to the difference between the two novels time periods, the stories contrast sharply while similarly telling the story of relationships between the women characters and their lovers. By contrasting the two characters roles to each other, a comparison can be made as to how the time period played a significant factor in the outcome and actions of the women in each story. Although this baseball seems the same, kids are in entirely different worlds than each other. While some are playing, and might not even be keeping score, others are in life or death situations to the point that the parents are more concerned about winning than the kids playing the game. This can be the bad thing about this beautiful game, when parents push their young kids too hard. I will be evaluating the character of Sheila Mant; she is self-indulgent and rude. First, she only talks about herself and how somebody said she should be a model. That is very self-indulgent because when you talk about how somebody said you should be a model it is like saying that you are the prettiest. It is selfish and cocky to say how somebody else thinks you are beautiful when you are on a date.…

Chris McCandless’ actions can be seen as rebellious at first, but as time goes on, it is clear that there is hostility between his parents and himself that he does not want to face or try to fix. In a dysfunctional family, there are two extremes when it comes to the outcome of the children: the rebel or the conformist. Although the older child is typically the conformist and the younger child is the rebel, the McCandless family is a little different because both children are the rebels. Krakauer says, “Also like Chris, she clashed fiercely with Walt and Billie as an adolescent… [but] Carine made peace with her parents shortly after Chris disappeared” (129).…
