Youngsters from wealthy families stayed in various camps throughout the area for eight weeks, religiously, every year. These camps were quite exclusive and varied from all boys to all girls to coeds with many different age groups. For some of the young campers it was an extension of their school, and indeed, many of the parents only saw their children for a few weeks every year.
