Most people enjoy a change of scenery every once in awhile. It can become tedious being in the same routine every single day, in the exact same place. Seeing another country can spice up a person’s life and let them have an experience like no other. All tourists should visit Japan because of the food, the animals, and the natural wonders. There are many different things to do when travelers visit Japan, and one of them is enjoying Japanese food. A staple food in Japan is okonomiyaki. The word okonomiyaki means “grilled as you like it”. It is like a pancake, and you can put a mixture of anything on it. Okonomiyaki is eaten as breakfast, lunch and dinner. Another food is mochi. Mochi is a common treat in Japan, usually eaten as a snack. It is rice that is molded into any shape wanted, and then it is baked. Speaking of snacks, dango sticks are also popular in Japan. An interesting animal is the Japanese serow, which is often said to be the national symbol of Japan. They are herbivorous animals, and their fur is a blackish-whitish color. Japanese serows are also called “goat-antelopes” because of how they look and act. The sable is another animal that is native to Japan. They have dark brown fur, and they have a great sense of hearing. They are like weasels, but bigger. Tourists can also see the tanuki, whose name translates into “Japanese raccoon dog”. They are black and tan, and they look similar to a raccoon. They are mischievous and hyper, and there are statues of the tanuki outside of some villages.
