January McConville is missing. Her boyfriend, Flynn Doherty, has not seen her in almost a week. The last thing they did was fight, and January broke up with him. The reason that January broke up with him was because he was hiding something from her. He was hiding the fact that he was gay. Flynn had no idea that she had gone missing. Flynn and January had started going to different schools the start of their sophomore year in high school. January went to a prestigious, private school called Dumas, while Flynn stayed at the same school, Riverside. The only reason January was able to get into Dumas is because her mom married a senator candidate, Jonathan Walker. January loathed her new life as a rich politicians stepdaughter. The police think that Flynn did something to January after she told him, but the problem is that she never told him about her pregnancy. At this point, the police are interrogating Flynn about her disappearance. Flynn is fed up with the questions, and he confesses to his parents and the police officers that he is gay. After his secret is out to his parents and the police, he goes and tells his best friend. When he tells his best friend, Micah, he is devastated that Flynn didn’t trust him enough with his secret. Micah distances himself from Flynn, this breaks Flynn’s heart. Everybody at school is talking about him, and his best friend leaving him is not helping him. Flynn is still focused on finding out what happened to January. He goes to Dumas to ask one of the people that January hung out what happened to January, he also asked her if she knew that January was pregnant. Kaz takes Flynn to Dumas to see Reiko, January’s friend at Dumas. When they arrived at Dumas, Flynn finds Reiko in the auditorium, where she was working in the drama club. Flynn asks Reiko if they can talk in the hallway when they turn around to head out of the auditorium, Cedric Hoffman, the drama coach, is standing there. Flynn gets a bad vibe about Cedric. He takes Reiko out to the hall and finds out that January had quit the drama club a few weeks ago. He also asks Reiko if January had entrusted her pregnancy to Reiko. Reiko never …show more content…
On the internet, he finds that Cedric had quit an English teaching position at a school called Hazelton, forty-five miles away from Riverside. Flynn called Kaz and asked if he would drive him down to Hazelton, Kaz agreed. Flynn skipped school for the first time ever. The boys arrive at Hazelton, they head to the office to ask some questions. Once they enter the office, they ask the attendant if there was any information on why Cedric quit. The attendant dismisses her student assistant and asks them why they want to know. They say that they just want some of the information. The attendant says that the reason for Cedric quitting is confidential and that she can not give them any information. They start to head out when the student assistant, Klara, stops them and tells them why Cedric quit. Klara tells them that there were many times that female students were found passed out by Cedric. Every time each of the girls woke they found Cedric standing above them, helping them up. Also, each of the girls said that before they passed out they had drunk some sort of drink. Some had their own, but on a few occasions, they were working with Cedric after school, he gave them some coffee and they passed out. Klara tells the boys that this is why Cedric quit at that school. After Klara tells the boys this new information, Kaz starts to drive Flynn back to his house. When they are halfway back to town, Flynn tells Kaz that he wants
