Janos Kovach's 'Father Of 1812'

Within the story, Father and the “1812”, the father, Janos Kovach, is facing a large trouble. He wants to become a musician, but he is unable to become one. This is because his father wanted him to have a job where a physical product could be shown after their job, such as a bricklayer. Although, Kovach has a burning passion for music instead, but, his grandfather did not allow him to pursue this career, and instead to have construction jobs instead. Therefore, the father moved out and worked hard to become a musician instead. Throughout the story, it shows how the father truly was a musician, and not a bricklayer.

First in the story, we see that the father is extremely handy. The father shows in several instances that he can be very handy, and once even saved a show. IN the text it states “He knew how to mend harnesses, set saws, tune, pianos, build a house from foundation roof, and repair bicycles.” This statement shows that Kovach is very good with his hands, and able to do many amazing things with his hands that most people cannot. In addition, Kovach shows his handiness later in the story, when he fixes the pedal. In the text it states “toolbox open, working on the pedal.. The father never quits once he puts his mind to it. In the text it states “I read music quite well.. I can play the shotgun.. They argued violently… In the end, father one.” This quote shows the strong personality of the father and that he never gives up. The Father is not a one to give up easily and will push forward until he achieves or gets what he wants. Also in the story, it states, “ The remarks became epithets … accusations ... father left.” This quote shows that the father really wanted to become a musician, but his also strong-minded grandfather did not allow him, so he decided to live just on his own because of his strong
