My Hero's Journey: A Narrative Fiction

I saw a man at a coffeehouse today. He just sat there drinking his coffee and staring out the window. He wasn 't sitting with anyone and his deep brown eyes looked so sad. But strangely enough I 've seen this man before. Not on the train home or at a concert or anything, but every year on my birthday since I was three.

I 'd started calling him the Eternal Man since he looked the exact same every time I saw him. Never changing. Never aging. Same black hair, same dark green button down and black slacks. Throughout the years, he 's never said a word to me or accidental awkward eye contact or even a nod.

He is always there, but I am the only one that ever notices him.

The packet arrived three years ago. My parents were in a frenzy trying to open it immediately, but it was sealed with magic ,so their efforts were useless. They 'd even taken it to several witches and wizards on Earth, but they all said the magic seal was too strong.

Soon, my parents had given up and stored it in a safe. They refused to let me have it, but I wasn 't just going to let it sit in there and fade away. It was amazing what you could do with a hairpin and some patience. I 'd hid the packet in my room ever since and now, it was time.

It was finally time.

Carefully, I opened the seal on the back and slid it 's contents out on the floor in front of me. There was a necklace with a fine golden chain and a lavender gemstone attached, legal documents, a lavender envelope and a black and white journal.

I decided to read the letter first because it might explain everything else.
