Jane's First Coin Short Story

Our story starts off with a numismatist named Oliver Ponce. A rather upscale man in a rather ruffian neighborhood for his taste. He was there to find out what had transpired with his most precious coin. He had many coins; many with a paucity of existence. However this coin was even more special to him. It was Jane’s. Jane had nice long red hair, a pretty smile and a rather sarcastic personality, yet an elated personality. Oliver loved her guts. Sadly, she had recently died of lung cancer, just two days ago. The flowers were still fresh at old Oliver’s home. However getting this coin was more important to him than standing over a grave crying. This coin was of utmost importance. It was Jane’s first coin that she had obtained with Oliver. Now Oliver stood pensively looking out the window. At this moment he realized, he had intruded himself into Jane’s life and into this Goddamn pain and sorrow. That was when he shed a tear that landed on a checkerboard. On a red square right in the middle. He was a fatalistic kind of guy, who just realized he had punctured the path of his faith. He cogitated about it. He went into the kitchen and opened a bottle of wine. White wine, Jane’s favorite. That made him feel even worse so he just chugged it right out of the bottle and plopped down on the couch without even taking his tie off. He thought about Jane, about how happy they used to be together; how content she made him, and how equally jubilant he made her. He thought about until his brain collapsed and his heart expired. He awoke to the sound of the almost empty wine bottle shattering and falling to the floor. Inside the mess of broken glass was Jane’s beloved coin. Had someone have the audacity to break into his home and leave it there. Oliver didn’t give a crap. What he knew was that this coin was now his forever
