Jane Hawthorn Character Analysis

Jane Hawthorn is not a welcoming woman. In her youth she maintained the physique of a supermodel a body well maintained in her old age. With the warmth of an arctic snowstorm she ran an international multi-billion dollar company she was severe. Seeing her blown huge on the tv made even the biggest strongman feel small. Which is why Louis Miller was more than a little suspicious to see her sitting in his modest law office.
“ I appreciate your punctuality Mr Miller. Your assistant said you would be here at eight and, in fact, you’re early.”
Louis blinked, swallowed, and said “nothing works unless I do.” Louis was a Large man built almost entirely of circles. He has the demeanor and personality of a grizzly bear.

“Lawrence has a knack for publicity but no sense in trade. At the first hard decision he will make the one that looks best on tv. Which is not always the one that is right.” stepping out of the car she looked down into Louise's face “will you take this case?”
“Yes”
It was the first time ever he had seen Jane Hawthorn smile.

Jane turned the tv on in her living room, she had a tendency to follow the news religiously. An announcer came up on the news grinning
“ has created the perfect ultimatum. Innocence for business. A risky gamble from the woman being accused of poisoning the largest water table in north america breaking nearly five environmental laws” Jane wandered over to an armchair and pulled up her laptop. It was always interesting to see what she was being accused of. “We’ll see how her new legal lover handles her case”
Jane let out a snort as they showed footage of louis chasing her to her car. This was not her first smear campaign and it would not be her last. As she opened her company records her phone began to ring.
“Hello?”
“Have you seen this?” Louis’s gravely voice demanded answers. He was a rather young man in comparison to Jane. He was worried how this would affect his business.
The tv announcer in the background began to revel in dragging jane through her poor choices in

I am being slandered on national tv!” behind his receiver he was pulling his hair. He would never have another client.
“Louis this kind of thing has been happening to me my entire life. They have never been able to prove anything”
“Then why is fighting this legal battle so important?” louis was shouting into the phone.
“Because if I lose its proof to the public that I’m corrupt. If I pay my way out it proves to the public that I’m corrupt and hiding it. It validates every other bad rumor they created about me.” Jane turned the tv off with a snap. This was nothing she had never heard before. She opens her calendar and scrolls around the dates.
“This could actually affect me.” continuing in the same breath “what day is our court date?”
“August 23rd.” Lois still sounded tense, but he wouldn't be a lawyer if he could work under pressure.
“Thank you Louis” Jane typed in the appointment and closed the calendar. She went back to her records. She had left the office hours ago but there wasn’t anything she’d rather do with her evening than work. It was several weeks later when Jane was back in Louis’s

With a small huff of breath, I pinched my nose bridge, trying to fend off the headache that was steadily throbbing through my brain.…
