The part of the doll test video that surprised me was when that even the African-American children were saying that the black doll was bad. Even they believed that their own race was bad just because of skin color. If a person of a different race were to watch this, I am sure they would be surprised too. It was as if being heterosexual was the same as being a mass murderer. All the other children in the school drove the girl to suicide over something as pointless as being heterosexual. After watching the video, I realized how this treatment is given to homosexual people all the time. If a person of another religion watched the video, I think they would see what is wrong with discriminating based on sexuality as well. No matter what religion, any person can see that sexual discrimination is wrong if it leads to suicide.
5. For the Jane Elliot videos, would you be comfortable participating in this exercise? Why/Why not?
I would not be comfortable in participating in the exercise. I would consider myself a very timid person. Being so timid, I always try to stay away from arguments. Participating in this exercise would make me feel very uncomfortable and possibly even sick. That is why I would not want to participate in Jane Elliot’s exercise.
