After she stood up to him she new she had to tell Steve what was going. She and Steve had agreed it was best for the family if they moved away from Richard so he couldn't harm Jane or their daughter Sophie. Jane was also pregnant with there second daughter at the time. After they moved away Jane decided to seek help for abuse, but was put on a wait list and wasn't seen until a year later. After being on a wait list for a year she finally got to see someone and was able to talk about what happened to her in her earlier years. Once Jane grew comfortable enough she finally went to the police and pressed charges. By the end of the book Jane finally got justice for the abuse she endured for seventeen years. Richard was found guilty of the crimes
