Jamilla Allen's Role As A Model Student

Decent Essays
This year I had the pleasure of teaching a student unlike any other I have ever met. Jamilla Allen is the type of young girl a teacher never forgets. With her sarcastic wit and dry humor, her enthusiasm and persistence in class, and her kind heart, Jamilla has made a lasting impression. Jamilla’s humor may be hard for a novice to pick up on at first. She says things with a completely straight face, making it hard to detect whether she truly means some of the rather preposterous things she says. Once you catch on though, it makes for some pretty funny moments, as Jamilla can be pretty funny. Sometimes she is funny without trying also. For instance, she enters each room every day in a really dramatic way, posing at the door with one hand up and staring down her teacher. This entrance is hilarious and can make you laugh even when you are having an …show more content…
Even though she claims she hates reading, she shows interest in everything going on in class. She raises her hand often, has plenty to add the conversation, and puts her full effort into (almost) all of her work. Jamilla is a student who, while being able to joke and play around, also very clearly takes her work seriously and wants to do her best academically. This makes her a good role model for students who don’t necessarily think this way and a great addition to any classroom. Lastly, Jamilla truly has a kind and loving heart. Sometimes she tries to hide this fact by saying she has no feelings or throwing shade at people but as you get to know her more, you see the truth. Jamilla is a great friend who is loyal and dedicated to those she calls her “besties.” She is also basically kind to everyone and doesn’t treat anyone different than the rest. Finally, she loves to help people out. Whether that be running errands, showing her classmate how to do something, or even cleaning out a whole classroom, Jamilla feels good when she contributes and makes someone else feel

After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…
