In 2010, Jamie Oliver brought health and nutrition in the spotlight with his Ted Talk. His main point: people are often oblivious to how eating poorly affects lives. One girl, with whom Oliver had become acquainted, was "16, but she [had] 6 years to live" (Oliver 2010). Oliver was appalled to how such a young girl could have such a short amount of time to live, all because of poor eating habits. Her obesity was not only harmful to herself, but poison to the people around her. High fructose corn syrup enters the bloodstream more quickly than sugar, therefore making it even more dangerous than sugar. Not only does sugar affect physical health, but also mental health.
