When Jamie Eller was a teenager she wanted to be a hairdresser. She wanted to own her own salon and give people the makeovers of their dreams. When she was a child, she had three siblings and they had to pay for everything on their own because her parents couldn’t afford to pay for extracurricular activities and college tuition for all four of them. My mother had a job as a teenager but couldn’t afford to send herself to school to become a hairdresser. She got a job at Consolidated Services Group, which was close to her house so she could still live at home. Later on in life, she got married to my father and after that she became pregnant with me. She realized that she was making better money at this job than to become a hairdresser. Seven years later, my father cheated on my mother and left us. My mom needed the money to support herself and a child at this point all on her own so she has kept the same job her entire life. Working at Consolidated Services Group was a necessary life decision for my mother. She does not see it as a vocation because this is not something she wants to do in life; it is something she had to do. She wants to go back to school and find a job that she is happy with entirely. She believes that once she finds that job she will be living out her vocation in …show more content…
Her employer has been very good to her and she loves her job, it is just not something she sees herself doing for the remainder of her life. She does believe life has put obstacles in her way to finding her vocation in life but everything happens for a reason. God does have a plan for her and she is very excited to find out what it is. Consolidated Services Group has upheld her rights and dignity as a worker by giving her good benefits, a flexible schedule so she can take care of her child and good work environment. She makes enough money now to start going back to school to find her vocation in
