Out of the 110 people that came to Jamestown in only 28 of them were workers. Another 28 of them were people who didn’t have any occupation, which means they didn’t contribute to the settlement at all. There were also 47 gentlemen, who were people that were wealthy, and didn’t want to do any work. This meant that they didn’t have many people to do the essential things for survival, such as building, collecting water, and growing food. Some of those problems like growing food could’ve been resolved if they had broughten some women, but they brought 0 females. Lastly, the colonists in Jamestown died of disease. This was the main cause of death in Jamestown. In August of 1607 half of the people were killed from disease The way that the colonist got disease was from drinking contaminated water. Water would get contaminated from people dumping their waste in it. The rivers weren’t flowing so the waste would linger, and this would ultimately contaminate the water.
